We started this project in August 1992 when we moved to New Hampshire from Connecticut.
At the time, the property was a barren wasteland--our dirt was dead and the only thing we
were able to grow was rock. We harvested more rocks from our gardens than weeds! Of course,
the result of all that rock harvesting and 3 years of Danny’s effort is the beautiful stone
wall you see along Farley Road.
Thanks to nematodes, organic fertilizer, a lot of horse poop from Gracie and Justin
combined with the magic of rototilling, we have developed a fertile landscape where plants
and worms can thrive.
The shape and location of our gardens started when Danny and I placed a garden hose on
the grass and cut edges by hand. Our garden locations have evolved over the last 10 years
based on improvements in our knowledge of landscaping and a lot of guidance from
professional landscapers. The material in our landscape is a combination of our favorite
perennials mixed with contributions from family, neighbors, and friends.
The resulting gardens are a reflection of us. You’ll experience different shapes,
textures, and color schemes as you walk from garden to garden. Each garden represents a
unique stage in the evolution of our expertise.
We’re pleased to welcome you to our gardens and hope you get as much pleasure as we do
each time we gaze at the fruits of our labor.
