The Colonial Garden Club of Hollis: Membership and Dues

Membership Dues: May Meeting

Ideally, membership dues should be posted by the May meeting. Please make payments to The Colonial Garden Club of Hollis and deliver to the Club Membership Chairman. (Dues must be received no later than June 7 to maintain a Club membership.)

Classes of Membership

There are four classes of membership:

Active

Associate

Sustaining

Honorary

Active membership is granted to any applicant upon submission to the Membership chairman of the complete application form and payment, as outline below.

Active Membership

The Active membership of the Club is limited to fifty members. Active members have the right to elect officers and transact the business of the Club. Active members are required to:

Work on at least two Club projects or committees
AND

Attend at least three meetings a year.

Annual dues: $10, payable to the Membership Chairman before the Annual Meeting. Membership is cancelled if dues are not paid by July 1.

Associate Membership

Associate membership is available to any member who has been an Active member for at least ten years. Associate members have all the privileges of Active members. They may participate in all Garden Club activities; but, they are not required to do so. A written request for Associate membership must be presented to the Membership Chairman and acted upon by the Executive Board.

Annual dues: $15, payable to the Membership Chairman before the Annual Meeting. Membership is cancelled if dues are not paid by July 1.

Sustaining Membership

Sustaining membership is available to any Active member as an alternative to Active membership. Sustaining members do not have voting rights and are not eligible to hold office. Time spent as a Sustaining member will not count toward eligibility for Associate membership. Sustaining members are required to:

Attend at least one regular meeting
OR

Participate in one project each year.

Sustaining membership may be exchanged for Active membership at any time, providing the Active membership limit has not been reached. Requests for change in membership classification must be submitted in writing to the Executive Board for approval.

Annual dues: $25, payable to the Membership Chairman before the Annual Meeting. Membership is cancelled if dues are not paid by July 1.

Honorary Membership

Honorary membership may be conferred upon any person who has notably promoted the interest of the Colonial Garden Club. The names of such persons are considered, voted upon, and reviewed annually by the Executive Board. Honorary members are invited to attend meetings, but may not vote or hold office. Honorary members are not required to pay dues.
