The Importance of Participation in the Plant Sale

The Annual Plant Sale in May is our main fundraiser. If every member contributes 10-15 plants, this can be a great success, giving us our operating budget and the funds to use for many worthwhile projects. This gives us, as a Garden Club, a sense of pride to be able to financially contribute to projects such as:

  • Hospice Shade Garden
  • War Memorial Garden
  • Restoration of the Storage Shed
  • Seasonal Town Plantings

To help...

  1. Divide plants in the summer and fall.
  2. Put the plants in pots.
  3. Plant in the ground (in the pot) before the first frost ("heeling in").
  4. Dig the pots up in the spring.
  5. Water the plants when needed.
  6. Plants are ready and saleable-looking for the Plant Sale in May!

The main sale profits come from the perennials that the members contribute. We need about 1500 plants, especially nice perennials and hosta, sedum, iris, specialty day lilies, and all types of shade and woodland plants.
